Tour Plan

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, our guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you’ll enjoy a half-day or full-day city tour, visiting sites like:

  • Ethnographic Museum– Showcasing Ethiopia’s diverse cultures
  • National Museum– Home to “Lucy,” the famous 3.5-million-year-old fossil
  • Holy Trinity Cathedral– Burial site of Emperor Haile Selassie
  • Mercato– Africa’s largest open-air market
  • Entoto Hills– Offering panoramic views of Addis Ababa

Overnight in Addis Ababa.

Today, we embark on a scenic drive south through Ethiopia’s lush landscapes. Along the way, we pass through historical sites such as:

  • Melka Kunture– Prehistoric archaeological site
  • Adadi Maryam– A rock-hewn church
  • Tiya– A UNESCO World Heritage site with ancient standing stones

Upon arrival in Arba Minch, you will check in at your hotel and relax for the evening.

Overnight in Arba Minch.

In the morning, we drive to Chencha, home to the Dorze people, famous for their beehive-shaped huts and unique weaving culture. You’ll witness the preparation of their staple food, made from the false banana plant, and enjoy a taste.

After lunch, we embark on a boat trip on Lake Chamo, where you’ll have the chance to see:

  • Giant Nile Crocodiles(some of the largest in Africa)
  • Hipposin their natural habitat
  • A variety of water birds

Overnight in Arba Minch.

We continue our journey south, passing through the lands of the Konso, Tsamay, Arbore, and Hamar tribes. Along the way, we will:

  • Visit an Arbore villageto learn about their traditions
  • Explore a Hamar villagenear Turmi, known for their elaborate hairstyles and body adornments
  • If lucky, we may witness a Bull Jumping Ceremony, an initiation ritual for young Hamar men

Overnight in Turmi.

In the morning, we drive to Omerate (72 km, ~1.5 hr) near the Omo River. Here, we will:

  • Cross the Omo River by traditional canoe
  • Visit a Dassanech villageand learn about their culture

Later, we return to Turmi to explore the vibrant Hamar market, where locals gather to trade goods and socialize.

Overnight in Turmi.

Before leaving Turmi, we enjoy a nature walk around the area, where we may spot black and white colobus monkeys and a variety of birds.

After lunch, we travel to Konso, a UNESCO-listed region known for its:

  • Terraced landscapesand unique agricultural practices
  • Maze-like villageswith defensive walls
  • Waga stelae, grave markers for brave warriors and important community members

Overnight in Konso.

Today, we drive into the lush, green coffee-growing region of Yirgalem. Here, we check into Aregash Lodge, an eco-lodge surrounded by a coffee plantation. The lodge is built in the traditional Sidamo architectural style, blending into the natural environment.

Overnight in Yirgalem.

We begin our return journey to Addis Ababa, stopping at:

  • Hawassa Fish Marketto experience the local fishing culture
  • Ziway Lakefor birdwatching and a relaxing lunch

Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, you will have access to a hotel room for day use before your departure. In the evening,

we gather for a farewell dinner at a cultural restaurant, where you will enjoy traditional Ethiopian food, music, and dance performances.

After dinner, we transfer you to Bole International Airport for your flight home.
